I am very excited to start exploring abstract tattoo designs on my blog as they offer a glimpse into the creative process for the reader and, at the same time, allow me to reflect on the journey behind each piece.
Every design starts with the customer, and I like to take time beforehand to reflect on who they are and what they might need from this piece. I reflect on their energy and on what I know about their story. For this particular tattoo, the idea came to me clearly during that process, so I prepared a sketch that would guide the session.
The final design centers around a pair of hands, drawn delicately, as though they’re interacting with an unseen force. Surrounding them is a flowing energy that feels alive, shifting between bold ink splashes and soft, sweeping gradients. The contrast between the sharp details of the hands and the organic flow of the ink creates a sense of balance—between control and release, structure and movement.
While the initial concept was clear to me, the final design evolved as I worked on their skin, letting the flow of their body shape the piece. To me, this balance of preparation and intuition is where the magic happens.
The design, for me and hopefully for my customer, feels deeply connected to themes of trust and the hope that there will be something more. The hands, reaching into swirling energy, seem to interact with something beyond the visible—maybe the forces that guide us or the shifts we experience as we grow and change.
Creating tattoos like this is about more than how they look; it’s about the process and what it represents. Each piece is a chance to pause and let the design become a reflection of the client’s journey.
If this style speaks to you, I’d love to explore what we could create together. Every design starts with your story, and from there, we’ll let the ink flow.
